Membership

The difference between “attendees” and “members” can be summed up in one word: COMMITMENT. At Alexandria Covenant Church, we value commitment in our members, and provide you an opportunity through membership classes to help you understand and engage in the Vision, Mission and Values of our church.

Commitment to membership is not only important but Biblical. Jesus models full commitment to the church. Membership helps us provide care, and identify those who can be counted upon to serve. It also provides believers mutual support and healthy accountability to one another. Membership provides a place where you can grow in your faith and your service to our church and community.

How do I become a member?

Some of you have asked this question "How do I become a member of this church?"
Below are the steps necessary to complete this process.

  • Believe in Jesus Christ and receive the new life He provides through His death and resurrection for you.

  • Be baptized. Infant, child and adult baptisms are all valid forms of baptism in the Covenant Church. A person who has been baptized as an infant or baptized in another denomination need not be baptized again.

  • Complete the Exploring Membership class. This is a two hour class held in the evening at Pastor John's home. This class shares the history of the Covenant Denomination, learn about the Mission, Vision and Values of our local church organization. See the bulletin for scheduled classes.

  • Complete the Membership Foundation class. This is a two hour evening class held at church. This class provides an overview of the Christian faith, and serves as an introduction to various topics, including following Christ, finding your ministry, sharing your faith story and more. See the bulletin for scheduled classes.

  • Fill out a Membership Application (available at the church office) and submit the application to the church office. The Membership Team will contact each person to set up an appointment to meet with them.

  • Meet with our Membership Team to share how you came to faith in Christ and your current walk with Christ, and review our Membership Covenant. The Team will recommend prospective members to the Leadership Team for approval.

  • Recommended names will be published in the bulletin.

  • New members will be introduced during a Sunday morning Worship Service, where they will be welcomed into the Church.
