Guidelines for Scholarship to Attend a Missionary Training School

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 3:5

The Global Missions Team from the Alexandria Covenant Church oversees opportunity for regular attendees or members to receive a $500 scholarship to attend classes or serve as an intern at a reputable missionary training school (schools such as YWAM, Honor Academy/Teen Mania, etc.). To be eligible to receive this scholarship the applicant must:

• Have been a regular attendee or a member of the Alexandria Covenant Church for the past year or more or …. is the child of a parent or parents that have been regular attendees or members of the Alexandria Covenant Church for the past year or more.
• Has applied to and been accepted to attend the Missionary Training school.
• Has plans to attend or is attending the Missionary Training school full time and plans to complete the course in the time the course is designed to take.

Applicants may request permission from the Global Missions Team to solicit additional support from the congregation by means of the church mailboxes. The request that is placed in the mailboxes should include a letter briefly describing what the applicant will be doing, the name of the school the applicant will be attending, identifying the total dollars needed, stating that the donation is not tax-exempt, dates as to when the applicant will be enrolled, and specific procedures for sending support.

Applicants are expected to report back to the Global Missions Team and/or the congregation at least twice per year via a newsletter, detailed e-mail letter, a presentation before the Global Missions Team, sharing a “Missionary Moment” during Sunday morning worship, or via similar methods of communication.

Please complete the application. The Global Missions Team will review this application at the next scheduled meeting and accept it if all prerequisites are met. The Global Missions Team will then notify the applicant and remit authorization for the church treasurer to send the funds to the school sometime during the week after the meeting.
